Holiday Gifts, Award Gifts

Thursday, September 15th, 2011

We at www.wvawards.com have many wonderful holiday gifts for you to choose from. They range from a few dollars to over $20,000, from frugal to fantastic, and from fun to phenomenal.

O.K., so let’s start with the budget minded Christmas gifts and gift awards under $50. We have 2 styles of ceramic mugs that can be used as a thank you to clients or a Christmas gift that is personalized for the individual receiving it. Mugs can be personalized with a logo or graphic and filled with a variety of items. The mug could be filled with candy, tickets to an event, bills rolled up and tied with narrow ribbons, pens, pencils, and small post-it notes, whatever you choose to make it more personal for your client or friend. Of course, we just provide the mug, not the contents. See the Appreciation Sports Mug Award, and the In Appreciation Gift Mug.

Need a holiday gift for a teacher? Choose the new variation of the “apple for the teacher” gift. The apple is actually wooden and fits on a base so that the teacher’s name and message can be engraved. You may want to choose one with a clock in it, so it could multi-task as both a paper weight and a clock on the teacher’s desk. Check out the Apple Appreciation Gift Award, and the Apple for the Teacher Gift Award.

Great holiday gifts are the eco-friendly bamboo desk items. Bamboo is a “green” item, a certifiable renewable resource, so it’s a great choice for the environment. The bamboo Engraved Pen and Case set includes engraving on the pen and on the lid of the pen case. Another “green” eco-friendly Christmas gift is the Bamboo Coaster Corporate Gift set. Each coaster can be engraved with a logo or graphic for personalization. These are great “thank you” gifts for customers, or a nice personal gift.

Holiday gifts can be unique items like art glass pieces. The Art Glass Salute Award is an interesting and colorful gift item that has room on the base for a personal engraved message. Art glass doubles as both a gift award and a piece of room décor – the perfect choice when you want something a little different.

Gift items with a star theme are always a good choice, such as the Shining Star Corporate Gift Award. The gold star is attached to a black marble base with room for an engraved message such as, “You’re my shining star”. Or choose the 5”clear Star Acrylic Award, it is a perfect little gift that can fit on a desk, shelf, end table, anywhere.

Do you have clients that you need to thank for their patronage throughout the year? The Goodwill Keychain showing a handshake represents a nice token of good will and appreciation for clients.

Clocks are always good and practical items for a gift, many of which are under $50. These clocks include: Appreciation Award Clocks, Engraved Gift Clocks, Engraved Retirement Clock, and Customized Desk Clock. We also have the Award Clock with Pen that is under $50. Other desk items are Business Card Holder, and Note Pad Holder.

The next price range is $50 to $100 for gift awards for the holidays, or the end of the business year awards. These include the art glass pieces that are a mix of room décor and gift award all in one. These unique pieces are colorfully designed and have room on the base for an engraved message. The Employee Recognition Gift , the Corporate Glass Gift Award, the Corporate Retirement Gift Award, the To the Top Award, and Art Glass Salute Award are all wonderful holiday gift choices for that special person in your life or for retirement awards and service awards.

The $50 to $100 price range includes more clocks. The glistening Engraved Crystal Clock Award is a wonderful choice for business or personal giving. Other clocks include: the Book Clock Award, the Engraved Quartz Clock, the Glass Appreciation Clock, and the Mantel Desk Clock. Clocks are always a good choice and one that is even more functional is the Personalized Desk Clocks with Pens. An additional desk item to choose from is the Pen & Pencil Holder, for the office at home or at work.

Holiday gifts over $100 include art glass, clocks, and collectibles. The Engraved Book Clocks is a unique clock made in open book style. It is functional and attractive, with room on one side for a personalized message. It makes a beautiful retirement gift, service award gift or Christmas Gift.

The art glass gift awards in this range include the Crystal Flame Gift Award on a black crystal base. It is a nice gift award that can utilize a flame or “light my fire” theme. The Crystal Wave Gift Award is very similar in style and the engraved message might include “making waves” or some other reference to the wave or water theme. Price includes the personalized message on the base.

Frogs, Frogs and more Frogs. Oh, and you must look through the selection of Barry Stein bronze sculptures. The favorites are the bronze frogs. They are wonderful collectibles and great for gift giving. Each frog is numbered and comes in a velvet gift bag with a letter of authenticity. The frogs come in a multitude of vibrant colors. Candy red is the most favorite color and fits nicely with the holiday season of colors. However, you may want to choose pink and black, or lemon lime, or fire, which is one of my favorites. Following is a partial listing of bronze frogs, (my favorites), but look through all 60 of them on our website and select your favorites for family, friends, and colleagues.

I would say that Dezerae-Small is my very favorite little bronze frog collectible. She still has a bit of her pointy tail from the tadpole stage and is the cutest little thing! She is also a very reasonable $154, so starting your collection with Dezerae is a good beginning. Boobala and Mikey are a couple more of my favorites. I call them the happy frogs, they both look like they are laughing, which makes them even nicer as gifts.

Bumpy, Alysa, Elexess, and Dezerae-Large are among the best sellers of the bronze frogs. Check them out, I bet they will be your favorites too. Peek a Boo will bring a smile to your face. She is on a ledge, peering over carefully. And then there is Hangover, who has one leg stretched over the edge and begs the question – is he going up or down? These frogs are great conversation pieces for gift giving, for Holiday gifts or any time of year.

Slider has his feet positioned to stop that skid, another of the Barry Stein frogs with character. Most come in 8 or 12 color choices, so you should be able to match any room or office décor. Hot Rod fits his name; he is a flashy guy with especially vivid coloring. I would have to have the “fluorescent orange” with gray markings. Kookala is another bronze frog with extra bright coloring. My favorite of her 8 color choices is the orange with black and white markings.

Many of the frogs provoke a warm/fuzzy feeling because they seem to be smiling, namely, Sammy and Jason. Then you must choose which color you would like them to be in. How about Jason in candy red or lemon lime, and Sammy in pink?

Hitchhiker Frog sends a message with Mom providing a ride for baby frog who is hanging on for dear life. The nurturing theme is obvious. Of the 8 color choices we show, I like them all; its hard to pick a favorite.

If you have started your bronze frog collection, you should consider adding the hilarious threesome of Hear No Evil, See No Evil, and Speak No Evil. I believe artist Barry Stein has a great sense of humor when he creates his bronze frogs. You will also see that humor in Golfer Frog and Martini Frog, who are personified with golf club and raised glass. And let’s not forget Thumbs up in this group. A “thumbs up” gesture of encouragement would be a great addition to your desk – at least someone always approves of your work! One other fun frog I have to mention is Stumper. He appears to be seated on his stump giving a campaign speech. He must be up for election next year.

Holiday gifts, collectibles, or award gifts, the Barry Stein bronze sculptures are a great choice for a gift any time of year. Why not pick a really fun gift for someone this year? What could be more fun than giving a hot pink and black Olympus Octopus? Olympus is a corner sitter, so he will need a shelf or ledge to hang over. Olympus is about as unique as you can get for gift giving and, to top it off, he is a valuable collectible. Okay, if you want a bronze collectible that is less dramatic, you will like Octavio Octopus; he has his eye on you.

Some other fun gift-ables that you can Ooh and Aah over are Orca Baby, Otter and Sea Turtle. Otter is floating on his back with his little feet in the air. Ooh, so cute? Another great gift that may surprise you is Wall Lizard. He has an attached hook so he can cling to the wall. What color would you like? My favorites are red flame, lemon lime, fire, and pink.

Let’s go from fun to fabulous. The Barry Stein bronze sculptures from his North American Animals Collection has some wonderful pieces. They are phenomenal in any home or office. At the top of the list is Royal Conflict, it is a very large bronze sculpture 30” tall by 38” wide and depicts dueling bull elk. It is a marvelous work of art and especially nice for someone who loves the out of doors and its many wonderful creatures.

My favorite piece from the Stein wildlife collection is October’s Dream. The name of the piece and the look on the Buck’s face define peace and serenity. The bronze sculpture is 16” tall by 9” wide. High Plains Drifter is another favorite. The lone Big Horn Ram is on his own in the high country. I love the feeling!

Ascending Thunder will bring an entirely different feeling. Artist Barry Stein has sculpted this buffalo to show him in all his glory and power. It is a dramatic piece that will bring excitement to any room. What a wonderful collectible to give someone as a gift!

In The Fishing Hole we see the softer side of nature. The mother bear and her two cubs are at a watering hole. It is a peaceful and nurturing scene.

All of these bronze sculptures from Barry Stein’s North American collection are finely detailed works of art. What a privilege to own one of these pieces or receive it as a gift. We hope you will browse through the entire Barry Stein collection of over 100 pieces on our website. Find the ones that you suit your fancy or that you want to give to someone else.

So, whatever price range you are looking for, from less than $50 or more than $20,000 you can choose the right gift in the right price range to fit your budget. Happy gifting!

Barry Stein Bronze Sculptures

Wednesday, September 7th, 2011

Inspired by an intense love of nature, self-taught Oregon artist Barry Stein  spends hours in the wild researching the wildlife and their surroundings  that come to life in his world-renown bronze sculptures.   Currently, Barry’s work can be found in prestigious collections  throughout the world, and are presently on display in The Waldorf Astoria Hotel New York City,  The New York Hilton Hotel, New York Essex House, Hyatt Regency, The  Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas, the Hilton Hotel in Honolulu, and galleries in many states throughout the  U.S. as well as galleries in England, France and Germany.   Barry’s wildlife sculptures have been presented as gifts by our  government’s executive branch to foreign heads of state.

Barry Stein’s bronze comes in a variety of different sculptures. If you are looking for frogs, please visit the Bronze Frogs page.

Barry Stein’s bronze include Warriors and Heroes such as The Last Samurai. The Last Samurai is a symbol of the legacy of the samurai.  Over time, the samurai were ordered to change their way due to the inclusion of western-style governing. The decline was due to Emperor Meiji’s abolishment of the samurai’s right to be the only armed force in favor of a more modern, western-style, conscripted army in 1873. Samurai became Shizoku (士族) who retained some of their salaries, but the right to wear a katana in public was eventually abolished along with the right to execute commoners who paid them disrespect. The samurai finally came to an end after hundreds of years of enjoyment of their status, their powers, and their ability to shape the government of Japan.

Another hero of Barry Stein’s collection is King Leonidas. Leonidas was a hero-king of Sparta, the 17th of the Agiad line, one of the sons of King Anaxandridas II of Sparta, who was believed in mythology to be a descendant of Hercules, possessing much of the latter’s strength and bravery. He is notable for his leadership at the Battle of Thermopylae against the Persian King Xerxes I and his army.

There are variety of different animal sculptures: Bear Terrain, Maximus, In Living Color, Morning Catch, Nature’s Bounty, Conflict of the Vanities, Call of the Wild, Royal Conflict, The Watering Hole, High Plains Drifter, Lord of the Forest, The Fishing Hole, Little Big Horn, Cougar, The Stalker, October’s Dream, White Tail Deer, Ascending Thunder, Tatanka Buffalo, Thunderhead Pentagon Buffalo.

Insect sculptures include: Butterfly & Dragonfly.

There are a few turtles available in Barry’s collection: Daden Jr., Daden Turtle, Sea Turtle, Turtle Baby.

The Lizard collection includes: Green Iguana, Lizard, Lizard Round, Small Lizard, & Wall Lizard.

There are a variety of different sculptures in the Aquatic collection which include: Eli Octopus, Octavio Octopus, Olympus Octopus, Oscar Octopus, Tammy Octopus, Coho Rising, Out of the Blue, Orca Baby, Penny the Penguin, Puffin, Sealena the Seal, & Otter.
